What we are about - The Southern Cruisers Riding Club is for everyone who enjoys riding with a club, and our club Policies are very simple...

     *No Dues or Fees!
*You DO NOT have to show up at All club meetings!
*No tasks for you to perform!
     *and NO Major Commitments **

However, we do ask a few things from our members:

     *Always ride safe!
*Don't Give the Club a Bad Name!
     *Support your Club and Chapter!

We just want to ride for the thrill of riding. Most of our trips will be local with a few overnight or extended rides around 300 miles from here. So what ever brand of Street Legal motorcycle you ride, you will always be welcome at the Southern Cruisers Riding Club. The cost for membership is FREE. Our Club back patch is optional and is available for purchase for only $37.50. We also promote Motorcycle and Public Safety rules and Activities.

  - Online Registration (be sure to use Rappahannock Chapter 143)

  - Where you can see what we're up to and where we're up to it at.

  - A quick word from our  1st Officer to our Newest Members.

 - General guidelines for group riding, lane changes, proper positioning withing the group, accidents, hand and arm signals and more.  Even if you chose not to join our group, this is good to know information incase you ever meet or join up with a group because these practices are generally universal.

Really cool video for harleys but speaks to the hearts of ALL Riders!

 Winter Storage Tips

Here are some suggestions if you plan on storing your ride for the winter. I think they are geared towards more long term storage than most people in this area. I for one usually only add fuel stabilizer and change the oil & filter. I do use a trickle which really seems to help keep the battery "fresh". The other points are well worth considering and I might do a few of them over the Thanksgiving holiday. Of course the best thing is just to keep riding all winter! (lol)

WINTERIZING TIPS

If you’re planning to put your bike into hibernation while the area transforms into a frozen tundra, here are some storage tips to keep your bike in great shape during its long winter nap:
•   This is the fun part - take your bike for a final ride, and stop by a gas station on your way home and fill up your tank.  A full tank will prevent moisture, a.k.a. rust, inside your gas tank.
Add stabilizer according to the instructions on the bottle and let the engine run for a few minutes.  Modern gasoline has a shelf life of only a few weeks, and fuel stabilizer will help prevent it from breaking down and causing gummed-up or varnished fuel lines, carburetors, injectors, etc.
Change the engine oil and oil filter, transmission fluid, and primary fluid while the bike is still warm. Replacing these fluids helps eliminate chemicals and particles in the old oil created by combustion that can eventually break down the viscosity of your oil and corrode metal surfaces.
Lubricate your clutch and throttle cables. Also lube joints and pivots, such as side stand pivots, suspension linkages and brake lever pivots.
Check and service the battery, clean the battery terminals, and connect a trickle charger or battery tender. When it is not being used on a regular basis, a battery will gradually lose its charge, especially if you have installed a security system or stereo, which can drain your battery.
Inflate your tires to proper pressure, as under inflated tires can hasten the appearance of flat spots. Unless you can store your motorcycle with all the weight off its tires, you should move your bike regularly and adjust the tires in a different spot each time.
Clean and wax the bike to prevent corrosion and pitting caused by moisture trapped in dirt and grime.
If possible, keep the bike in a warm garage, out of direct sunlight.  UV rays also deteriorate paint and plastic. Rubber is sensitive to ultraviolet light and your tires can develop dry rot.
Use a breathable cover to keep dust and moisture out. Plastic tarps that don't breathe can trap moisture in, causing rust.
Store it out of the way in a low-traffic area, making sure that the bike is locked up, and keep the registration and other papers in a separate safe place.
Once a month or so, turn the engine over a couple of times to keep things loose and lubricated!
These simple precautions will ensure that your beloved motorcycle will be ready when you are, and will be running next spring just the way you remembered.
Ride Safe~

The SCRC has choosen St. Jude Children's Hospital as its primary charity. We are not discouraging the participation in other charities. We do want to point out some reasons that we chose St. Jude as our Club Charity.

1. 87% of all donations to St. Jude actually go to the costs involved with developing cures for Cancer. 13% go toward Administrative Expenses.

2. St. Jude's Hospital serves the world.

3. St. Jude has a very high success rate in curing or sending disease into remission.

4. St. Jude shares the results with Cancer Treatment and Research Centers from around the World.

5. St. Jude relies on the assistance of organizations like the Southern Cruisers Riding Club to keep their Research and Treatment Centers in operation. Without the generosity and concern of groups like ours, their mission would fail.
